Gaskins' Commentary on the senseless slaying of Timothy Thomas by Officer Steve Roach in Cincinnati:
The past couple of weeks have been absolutely electric! Cincinnati has been
in the National spotlight yet again for another senseless killing involving
overly aggressive police and an unarmed Black man. The series of events
that the murder of Tim Thomas set off have truly galvanized this city and
many others throughout the country. What went down in Cincinnati was a
harbinger of what could happen in every city of America if police continue
to expect the worse from all people of color and patrol our communities with
absolute disdain and disregard for our civil rights!

Only through adversity and peril does real change occur. The aftermath of
the racist killing of Tim Thomas, and the reactionary riots that followed
have positioned Cincinnati at the forefront of the new struggle for civil
rights. Cincinnati has often been criticized for having a void of
leadership and no real agenda. We think both of those beliefs have been
thoroughly debunked. While I never believe violence is the answer, I must
acknowledge that it was effective in elevating the importance of the
challenges and discrimination the urban community must endure. We as young
urban professionals must join with other leaders like Alicia Reece, Kweisi
Mfume, Damon Lynch, Ken Lawson, Charles Luken, etc to push for change.

Racial profiling affects all of us everyday. I for one am tired of living
on the brink of disaster. Never knowing when you might be pulled over and
for what insincere reason. Tired of being asked where are you going? Where
are you coming from? Where do you work? Tired of being told I fit the
description of someone that just committed a crime. Tired of being on my
knees on the side of the road while gawkers speed by shaking their heads.
Can a brother or sister legitimately drive a nice car or walk the streets
without putting our lives at risk at the hands of police? Is that an
unreasonable expectation?!

We all know the problems, the real challenge is defining where do we go from
here. The ball is in our corner. We have the attention of the world.
Let's make it happen!

September 11th, 2001 America was attacked in a ruthless manner by the international Al Quaeda network. Osama Bin Laden is the 'emir' or 'prince' of the network and is on a fundamentalist mission of terror. Click here to learn more about this elusive public enemy #1.

The Taliban and Osama bin Laden have declared 'Jihad' or 'Holy War' on the United States. Are these really the last days??? Are you ready? Has man's inhumanity to man really caused our world to lose LOVE?

I still can't believe what went down in NYC and DC. I thought the government was protecting us tighter than that. Especially the Pentagon! Bin Laden, Afghanistan, and any other rogue state will have to be dealt with! None of this hand’s off bombing from afar like the Persian Gulf. They have to get dealt with like the Japanese did after the Pearl Harbor attack. To me this is far worse than even Pearl Harbor for several reasons:

1. Pearl Harbor was not in the Continental US. It was part of Hawaii. These attacks were in our two greatest cities in the middle of primetime busy morning rush hour. The terrorists clearly wanted to do as much destruction as possible, and wanted to make sure the whole world was watching.

2. Pearl Harbor was a naval base (military target), so the potential of an attack was real. Granted the Pentagon housed military officers, but it was largely a symbolic target, not functional/strategic like a military base. The Twin Towers were an important symbol of America’s capitalism and the Pentagon of our military might. The Pentagon is the largest office building in the World with over 25,000 people working in there. The 7 World Trade Buildings that were destroyed housed over 50,000 people. The Pentagon will be rebuilt, but it is unlikely we will ever see the WTC again. Donald Trump please come to the rescue and restore these architectural jewels to NYC!

3. There were at least twice as many casualties in this latest attack than the 2,400 in Pearl Harbor. To make matters worse, the casualties were innocent civilians.

4. After Pearl Harbor, we knew who was directly responsible so declaring war on Japan was a non issue. I just hope this is not the beginning of the end. Fighting an enemy that cherishes death is a no win situation. Especially when that enemy is both within and without. The Bin Laden network "could" cause direct confrontations with former allies. Can you imagine us going to war with Pakistan(a nuclear power), Afghanistan(Russia's Vietnam), Palestine, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Libya, Iraq, and Iran. The Muslim population in those countries is more than half a Billion people! Not to mention that Bin Laden has American Citizens and Europeans that are loyal to his cause. Its now known that most of the 18 Hijackers were actually living in America as Americans for 2-5 years. Let's pray it doesn't come to World War III. However if it does, our generation and the generation Y kids have to be ready to die for our country! World War III will change civilization forever.
