Kaialexander,
born in Minneapolis, MN, Kai is an accomplished musician who has been
playing the piano for nearly 24 years. He has a diverse musical background
with foundations in classical piano and Jazz. He has studied classical
piano for 6 years at the collegiate level and started playing jazz in high
school. His style reflects this background as well as his keen ear for
Funk, R&B, Rock, Hip-Hop, and Soul. Kai is not only an accomplished
musician, but he is also an adept composer, arranger, producer, and
performer; a true virtuoso with enormous talent. He's entered and won
numerous competitions across the country from Massachusetts to Minneapolis
and many points in between. Kai draws musical inspiration from the
following sources: Louis Armstrong, Thelonious Monk, Red Garland, Oscar
Peterson, Bernie Worrell, Herbie Hancock, Miles Davis, James Brown,
Shuggie Otis, Stevie Wonder, Prince, and Marvin Gaye to name a few.
Personal friends include Cindy Blackman, (Lenny Kravitz's drummer), Tommy
B and Michael B. of the NPG, Chris Robinson of the Black Crows, and Darius
Rucker of Hootie and the Blowfish. Now he's venturing back to his Midwest
roots with live performances. He is also looking to record his own album
under Gaskins Productions reflecting his musical vision and genius.
Since
Being in Chicago for a two years, Kai has already been involved
with Vince Lawrence @ Chicago Trax. Tuesdays & Thursdays, Kai
has played solo piano at Spago for 7 months, as well as Gibsons
Steakhouse for 8 months. Started an afterschool piano workshop at North
Kenwood Oakland Charter Schools. Played on a couple studio projects for
local groups: “Star Candy” and “Andreus”. Played and
toured with Omar. Kaialexander has also played on remixes
for TLC and 702. Most recently played on a remix for Maxi
Priest. Performed for George Duke. He is also involved with other
local acts such as “Marvin Tate’s D-Settlement”, “Chezere”,
“DJ Mood and Mood Rotation”, “DJ Madrid”, “Andreus”.
He also helped form a local band named “Soul Sanctuary”. Kaialexander
is currently forming his own band and is seeking employment in/at your
